Week 7 DQ 2 – Response to fellow classmate – Amy Pape

One alternative type of therapy is yoga. Many people use this to relieve stress and align mind, body, and spirit. Yoga postures main focus in terms of therapy is working through the body (Luskin, 2004). Meditation is another form of therapy that is used to work through the mind (Luskin, 2004). Last, prayer is another practice that helps with spirit (Luskin, 2004). Praying aligns well with a Christian worldview. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lordâs people (Ephesians 6:18 New International Version).

I pray often, but I have never seen it as a therapy that rejuvenates my spirit. In terms of the therapy that I feel is best, it is a combination of the above three. Yoga helps me to relax, but also makes me feel that I am doing well for my body. Meditation is also relaxing, but it does not make me feel like I am doing much for my body. I could see how using meditation, yoga, and prayer consistently could make a person feel healthier overall. When I think of the alternative therapies, the main thing I associated them with is stress relief and relaxation.

Please respond to the above question using 250 words. Please also use at least 1 reference that is from a peer reviewed article or journal not a website reference. Please also cite the reference in APA 6th edition format.

Modern Presendency

A minimum of 350 words required with direct quotes and references from sources listed below.

A close examination of the Article II of the Constitution (Executive Branch) suggests that the founding fathers, leery of tyrannical monarchs, deliberately made vague the powers and responsibility of the president. Yet the institution of the presidency has grown, over time. This expansion of presidential power and the growth of the federal bureaucracies, through executive interpretation ofArticle II of the Constitution, is a dominant feature of the modern presidency.

Directions: Using the accredited sources listed below please provide two, specific, historical examples that demonstrate the ‘growth’ in presidential power during the 20th and 21st centuries.

Whats the difference between stratified sampling and quota sampling?

Stratified sampling is a probability sampling method while quota sampling is a non-probability sampling method.

Stratified sampling includes sub-dividing the sample into mutually exclusive and exhaustive groups. A simple random sample is then chosen independently from each group. This way, the probability of each element in a given group being selected is equal. Quota sampling, on the other hand, is a type of judgement sampling. In quota sampling, quotas are set up according to some characteristics. Within a given quota, the interviewer has to interview a certain number of people. The interviewer is free to choose anyone he wants. So personal judgement and bias may come in. However, this is the most common type of non-random sampling.

Statistic for psychology Essay

The efficacy of two kinds of cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) in relation to a clinical population were

compared. The therapies differed on the dimension of how wedded they were to the rational-emotive

behavioral therapy (REBT), a subtype of CBT that emphasizes a directive, confrontational approach to

encourage a patient to recognize the irrationality of specific thought patterns. Forty adolescents at an

inpatient clinic for treatment of self-destructive behaviors were randomly divided into two groups of

equal size, one of which received the less challenging type of CBT (Treatment A) and one of which

received the more challenging kind of CBT (Treatment B). All patients were treated by trained therapists

in one-on-one sessions for 1.5 hours per day (broken down into 45-minute sessions) for six weeks. All

participants were apprised that they were part of a study, all participants signed consent forms, and all

were told they would be informed of the results at its conclusion; participants exhibiting any behaviors

that required critical intervention were promptly treated outside the plan of the study. Outcome data

on the Revised Behavior Problem Checklist (RBPC)-PAR Edition* collected at the conclusion of six weeks

as shown below (also found in the Data Set Scenario 3 Excel file).

PSYC 421 SPSS ASSIGNMENT PART 1

The Center for Epidemiologic Studies Depression Scale (CES-D Scale)

In the Assignment Instructions folder, there is an SPSS data file that will be the basis for your analysis. The data included are fictional and were created solely for this assignment.

The Center for Epidemiologic Studies Depression Scale (CES-D scale) is often utilized to measure depressive symptomology (Radloff, 1977). It is a self-assessment that is completed by the individual. The CES-D contains 20-items rated on a 4-point scale (0 = Rarely or None of the Time to 3 = Most or All of the Time). The phrase “Within the past week did you…” prefaces the questions in order to emphasize recent depressive mood. Scores are summed and can range from 0 to 60. Traditionally, individuals with scores over 16 are identified as “depressed” (Weissman, et al., 1977), though due to high false positive rates, a score of 27 is considered a more useful cut-off (Zich, et al., 1990). The full scale can be accessed at: http://www.chcr.brown.edu/pcoc/cesdscale.pdf. Items 4, 8, 12, and 16 are reversed to avoid “yay-saying” or “nay saying” (Radloff, 1977). Several studies have validated four subscales across a variety of subgroups (i.e., depressive affect, well-being, somatic, and interpersonal) (Gliem & Gliem, 2003).

Demographics

You will learn how to go from raw demographic data in SPSS to describing a sample.

For this assignment, you will:

  1. 1.     Create a table showing the most appropriate descriptive statistics for three (3) of the demographic variables. You will be graded on the appropriateness of the descriptive statistics and graphs for each of the demographic variables as well as current APA format for your tables.
  2. 2.     Create the most appropriate graphs for the three variables you used for #1 above. Figure captions should be in APA format.
  3. 3.     Write a summary paragraph describing the sample. For example: “The sample was based on xxx# of college students from a private university in the southeastern United States. X% of the students were males, x% females. Students were primarily… (give the appropriate descriptor information with %’s or whatever fits the variables you choose to analyze).

Write a summary describing your thoughts on whether or not this tool could be useful for an applied practitioner working with athletes. How do you feel athletes would respond to an assessment like the TAIS?

Then, review the TAIS Performance Report for Andrew Athlete and assume that Andrew is a potential first round draft pick as a NFL quarterback. Respond to the following:

  • Do you believe Andrew Athlete would be a valuable asset to a team?
  • What are his mental strengths and weaknesses and how might they aid or inhibit his performance as a team leader and a quarterback?
  • How might you work with Andrew to improve his mental skills—what areas would you first focus your attention?

“For Prof Dan Only” 1,000-1,250 word analysis

Details:

This assignment asks you to analyze various companies’ mission or organizational vision statements to determine how such statements guide leadership practices within an organization.

Select a mission statement or organizational vision statement from one company that professes to practice servant leadership and one that practices a standard leadership model. Some well-known companies that practice servant leadership are Southwest Airlines, REI, and Aflac. Conduct additional research to locate others.

Once you have selected two companies, write a 1,000-1,250 word analysis that addresses the following:

  1. Compare and contrast the mission and/or organizational visions statements of the two companies. What are the similarities and differences? How do you think these statements impact the culture of each organization?
  2. What servant leadership principles or values are either explicitly or implicitly apparent in the mission/vision statement of the company that professes to be servant-led?
  3. Explain how you see the principles expressed in the statements manifested in each company’s public reputation, and how they treat their employees in the services they provide, their marketing, etc. Provide a few specific examples to demonstrate your points.
  4. Do you think each company is living out the values/principles expressed in their statements? Why or why not? If the more traditionally led company adopted a servant leadership model, what revisions to their mission/values statement would be warranted? Be sure to comment on your understanding of how such mission/vision statements can or should guide a company’s treatment of its employees and clients.

Include the mission or organizational vision statements of the companies you selected in your analysis.

You are required to locate four articles that support your selected organization’s mission or vision statement. Two of the selected articles must be peer reviewed journal articles. Include information from the articles in your discussion.

Prepare this assignment according to the guidelines found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center. An abstract is not required.
