Apply the principles of Logical positivism and Sir Karl Popper’s falsification to Charles Darwin’s theory of Evolution.  Now look at Thomas Kuhn’s structure of scientific revolution and apply it to Darwin’s theory of evolution.  Does Darwin’s theory fit well with these two views of science?  Is Darwin’s theory of evolution a scientific theory?

Assessment of Child’s Behavior

A thorough assessment of a child’s behavior is a very important and involved task. Too many times individuals look at the child’s behavior and label the child as angry, aggressive, troublesome, etc. In this assignment, you will begin to apply many of the different dynamics that could be in play in a child’s life. You will analyze a case study to create an assessment of a child’s behavior by identifying the child’s role in the family, school, and peer groups.

In this evaluation, you will ascertain the possible determinates of his or her behavior given what you have learned about the influences on a child such as family, peers, school, and community. You will review what type of role he or she may be playing in the family as well as in the school based on these dynamics. Keep in mind that this is an assessment of an individual in a community and not an introspective psychological type of assessment. Support your answers with information cited from at least two peer-reviewed academic sources and your textbook.

  • Choose a case study from the list provided, if you have not done that already.
  • Present the case by explaining the child’s behavior in light of your understanding of the ecology of the child. Give special attention to the following:
    • Family and social environment
    • Economic circumstances
    • Health care access
    • Physical environment and safety
    • Behavior
    • Education
    • Health

Apply your knowledge of these indicators to explain possible determinates of various aspects of the stated behaviors in the case study.

  • Given your understanding of the ecology of the child, of the family, and of socialization, identify the top three areas that seem to be the most influential in this child’s behavior. Support your answer with professional information from the text and two peer-reviewed research articles.
  • Review the role this child plays in his or her family and how that correlates with the expressed behavior.
  • Analyze the different theories of macrosystem and microsystem influences including parenting orientation and parenting style and how that impacts children. Then apply the theory that might best fit your selected case study.
  • Review the role this child plays in his or her school and peer group and how that correlates with the expressed behavior. Analyze the impact of the school and the peer group as a socializing agent, and identify the key areas of impact of both in this case study.

Write a 6–8-page paper (in addition to the title page and references page) in Word format. Apply APA standards to citation of sources, including use of in-text citations and full references. Academic sources could include your textbook, required readings for this module, or academic journal articles found in the Argosy University online library. Make sure you write in a clear, concise, and organized manner; demonstrate ethical scholarship in accurate representation and attribution of sources; and display accurate spelling, grammar, and punctuation.

Personality Theory at Work in Social Networks

This is a discussion question:

To begin, choose a social networking site (this may be Facebook , LinkedIn or Twitter ). Choose someone you know in your personal or professional life who has a profile on one of these three social networking services. It is important in your posts and responses not to disclose identifying information about your subject. You may choose a pseudonym by which to identify your selected subject in this discussion.

Choose one of the five domains (psychodynamic, behavioral, learning, trait and type, and humanistic) and create a personality profile based on your current knowledge of your chosen subject using the framework of your selected domain. Then, review the online profile or feed of your subject in your chosen social networking site and create a personality profile based on the information your subject has published on the site using the framework of your selected domain.

Compare and contrast the two different personality profiles. Provide an analysis of any differences between the two profiles. Select one of the models with the complex models domain. Explain the reasoning for the differences between the real world and online personality of your subject using your selected model within the complex models domains. Research a minimum of two articles on your chosen model and use these to support your statements. Evaluate and describe the usefulness of complex models as they pertain to this exercise in personality theory.

You may create your initial post as a screencast video presentation or a video blog using the software of your choice. Quick-Start Guides are available for Prezi, Screencast-O-Matic, and YouTube for your convenience. Be sure to include all the required material from the instructions above in your presentation or video blog. Once you have created your video, please include the link in your initial post. In your initial post, please include citations for your references and a brief reflection on the differences between creating a written post and having to present the material via screencast/video.

**KIM WOODS** questions

1. What do you think are the top five contributions to behavioral and cognitive theories?

2. Analyze the social cognitive theory of growth and development. How does a child grow to become a person with self-efficacy?

3. Skinner discussed environmental control of behavior. Apply that concept to today’s culture of social media, such as the Internet, You Tube, camera crime prevention, and tweeting. Do our behaviors change because of this type of environmental control?

4. Personality Assessment and the Case of Jim.  Read this case in chapter 11 of your textbook.  After reading the case and the associated chapter information for this week, consider posting at least one thread that relates the case to the behavioral and cognitive behavioral model and the use of these methods and analysis.
