Defining Performance Standards [CLO: 2]
In the article, Putting the “Performance” Back in Performance Management (Links to an external site.), Mueller-Hanson and Pulakos (2015) described three critical goals of performance management:
- Enable employees to align their efforts in a manner that contributes most to the organization’s goals.
- Equip employees with guideposts to monitor behavior and results and make adjustments in real time as needed to maximize performance.
- Help employees remove barriers to performance (p. 6).
Select an organization with which you are familiar and describe how the organization applies these three goals. Evaluate how well the three goals are currently achieved. As an HR manager, propose changes you would implement to improve the performance management system.
