BUS263-Property and Liability Insurance Redlining Redlining is a practice of systematically denying prospective insureds insurance, based on the demographic characteristics of a certain neighborhood. Even though laws have been enacted to eliminate redlining, in many areas this problem still exists. What are the results of redlining as it applies to urban areas across the country? What are some of the reasons that insurance companies engaged in redlining? What are insurance companies doing to stop redlining? What is the FAIR Plan? How does this help (or does it help) prospective insureds obtain insurance? What are governmental and legislative bodies doing to stop redlining? Have any efforts been successful? If so, what is the impact on affected communities? Please research the topic and answer these questions in essay form, double-spaced, with citations in APA style. The paper should be at least 4 pages in length. This paper is worth 30 points and is due Tuesday, October 31st. A rubric is attached.
The Ratts (2017) article (Charting the Center and the Margins: Addressing Identity, Marginalization, and Privilege in Counseling) argues that it is not enough to consider only one identity of an individual and that, as counselors, we need to consider the multiple identities and the complexities that result. In fact, Ratts says, All individuals present a multiplicity of intersecting identities, as well as privileged and marginalized statuses, shaped by motivating forces both internal (e.g., sense of self) and external (e.g. societal oppression) that need consideration. Discuss your reactions to and thoughts about this article. * * As you read this article, what resonated with you personally and professionally? * What did not? * Ratts reports that there is a theory-to-practice gap in the professional counseling field. Does this surprise you? Why or why not? * Ratts believes, unlike intersectionality theory, that individuals can hold both marginalized and privileged identities. Do you agree? Why or why not? * And, as always: What else came up for you when reading this article? If can’t access article let me know thank you
