A series in of reports in 2003 were released by the (IOM) Institutes of Medicine indicating that more than 98,000 Americans were annually dying due to medical mistakes. In 2010, Sullivan stated that his reported analysis led to calls for safety and quality improvements in the medical field. The Robert G. Woods foundation n retaliation to these calls funded the creation of the Quality and Safety Education for Nurses organization (QSEN).the primary goal of the QSEN is to address the challenge of equipping future nurses with the (KSAs) knowledge, skills and Attitude relevant to progressively develop the health care quality and safety levels in which they operate (Cronenwett et al., 2007). The KSAs were developed by and for nursing educators to be integrated into nationwide nursing curricula, including teamwork and collaboration, patient-centered care, evidence practice, informatics and quality improvement(Cronenwett, Sherwood, & Gelmon, 2009).

The IOM competence stresses on skills in patient care, awareness, collaboration within interdisciplinary teams, use and knowledge of evidence-based practice, awareness of quality improvement standards, information skills and beginning of research skills. Limited opportunities to interact with physicians and health care organizations put graduates at risk for stress, increased errors, increased rates of turnover, and job dissatisfaction.

Therefore to effectively implement IOM competence in practice there is a need to develop multi-dimensional clinical simulations which include volunteer for live situations encountered in practice. Volunteers and students set the stage for interdisciplinary team scenarios that need time management, real-time decision making, communication skill critical thinking skills, problem solving, and delegation, time management, legal and ethical issues. Examples of such issues include; implementation of the communication between the in charge nurses, student, physicians and other healthcare members. Receiving g and providing report, supervising team members.
